Dr. Jim deMaine is a Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician who retired from active practice at Group Health in 2003. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, and after Internship in New York, he served 2 years in the US Public Health Service assigned to the Peace Corps in Afghanistan. After a residency in Internal Medicine, he had a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington Medical Center. Following this he was Chief of the Admitting Ward at Firland TB Sanatorium. He has been Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine; and also is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington. He serves on the Washington State Tuberculosis Advisor Committee and, with Dr. Jon Ostrow, has given several presentations on the History of Tuberculosis to audiences in Western Washington.
